Ashanti Gold duo Shafiu Mumuni and Tijani Joshua have commenced light training after both players suffered knocks.

The two picked up injuries prior to the team’s BETWAY Cup tournament.

Both players are set to begin full scale training after showing signs of recovery.

Meanwhile midfielder Isaac Quansah has been sidelined for a couple of days after sustaining an injury.

Ashanti Gold wants to keep their players in good shape as they gear up for the Normalization Committee’s special competition which begins next month.

Ashanti Gold captain Tijani Joshua returns from injury

Ashanti Gold captain Tijani Joshua has joined Group training after recovering from injury.

The left-back has been away for some time but joined his colleagues at training on Thursday morning.

Tijani is now fit to partake in the team’s friendly matches.

“I was sidelined for a while, with lot of activities going on which I couldn’t partake in,” he said.

“I was a bit troubled but was willing to wait patiently till I gain full fitness.”

Ashanti Gold have been engaged in intense training session despite the cancellation of the Special Competition.

The former Ghana Champions have been keeping their players active with series of friendly matches.

Former Kotoko star Augustine Okrah optimistic about team’s chances in CAF Confederation Cup

Former Kotoko attacker Augustine Okrah is confident about the team’s chances in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The player was in the stands to watch his former side play against ZESCO United on Wednesday afternoon, a game the Porcupine Warriors won 2-1.

Kotoko needed goals from Kwame Bonsu and Emmanuel Gyamfi to register their first win at the Group stage.

Okrah is optimistic the Reds will advance past the Group stage of the competition.

“I was in the stands to watch my former club @AsanteKotoko_SC against Zesco United in the Caf Confederation Cup,” he tweeted.

“The 2-1 win was good💪.

“Kotoko may not be having household names like in the past but they have a strong team and an ambitious coach.

“They can qualify from the group.”

The 25-year-old who is currently with Indian Club NorthEast United FC left Kotoko in 2013 after struggling to break into the first team.
