The Nail Color You Should Wear This Spring, According to Your Taste in Rings

On the hunt for your next signature nail shade? We got you. Nail brands are coming out with so many dope nail colors for spring 2019, and according to celebrity nail artists, Instagram, and the runways, primary colors, unique opalescent hues, and metallics seem to be topping the nail color trends this season. But how do you know which products to buy? We figured what better way to help fashion girls find their trademark nail vibe than by basing it on their taste in rings? After all, the accessories we choose on our fingers every day say something about our aesthetic in general. So here you have it: Our guide to the spring 2019 nail color you should wear, based on your favorite type of ring. Keep scrolling to find the shade for you.

Dainty, no-frills rings like these are such a vibe. Why ruin it with a flashy nail color? Stick with the chill aesthetic, and opt for a neutral. Or if you want to get a little more playful, celebrity manicurist Steph Stone recently told me she’s been digging the mismatched-neutrals look lately—as in, a different taupe, cream, gray, or muted pink shade on every nail. (Trust me. It’s cute. Here’s proof.)
A feminine but bold ring style calls for a feminine but bold nail color (especially because neons and brights are at the top of the nail trend charts for spring 2019). Translation: this patently shiny new release from Butter London’s Pantone Color of the Year collection.
If you dig the pretty astrology-inspired rings that have been trending lately, may we suggest opting for a transparent glitter nail polish (or glitter topper with no polish underneath)? The subtle sparkle of the ring will pair well with the flecks of glitter in the polish without ever being too over-the-top.
Cool, contemporary, and statement-making but still low-key: If that’s your ring mood, then nothing too neutral or too glitzy will do. Meet in the middle with a unique nail shade like this newly released, multidimensional lavender from Londontown, which is perfectly on trend with the many opalescent nail polishes we’re seeing this season.
Why do the least when you can do the most? Bright yellow is my personal favorite nail color trend of spring 2019, especially this scrumptious new shade from Chanel. By no coincidence, I also own and am obsessed with a Gucci costume ring.
More into silver jewelry and traditional jewelry styles? Gotta go with retro pink nails. This muted blush shade from Jinsoon is a classic. Its cool undertones will complement the silver palette perfectly.
Foils and metallics have also been all over Instagram and runway nails as of late. If your ring collection features chunkier, more gothic styles, a deep-toned metallic like this dark green from Essie’s spring 2019 collection is totally the nail trend you should try.
I personally love mixing silver and gold jewelry, especially in the form of cool sculptural rings, like these fun creations from Alex Jewelry Studio. Pair these special pieces with a complex opalescent shade, like Zoya’s Leia (a sheer, luminous white with flecks of pink, green, and gold), which almost looks different every time the light hits it.  Next, see what happened when one of our editors got Julia Roberts’s signature crystal manicure.

10 Items Jennifer Lopez, Amal Clooney, and Hailey Bieber Would Buy at Zara

Here at Who What Wear, Zara is our editors’ not-so-secret obsession. As our regular readers are well aware, we turn to the fast-fashion retail giant for everything from wardrobe staples to evening wear. (ICYMI, our fashion editor Lauren Eggertsen even has an entire Instagram account dedicated to culling through the brand’s overzealous amount of products.) All this to say we scroll through Zara’s new-arrivals section on the regular.

So naturally, we were bound to stumble across items that look as though they were taken straight out of some of our favorite celebrities’ closets. Ahead, we’re shopping out some of Jennifer Lopez’s, Amal Clooney’s, and Hailey Bieber’s best looks by linking only to—you guessed it—Zara products. Keep scrolling to shop some of their most recent outfits and find out how to steal their style for yourself. Hang on to your wallet—prices start at just $20.

Lopez was recently spotted wearing the summer shoe trend French girls will never tire of: wedge-heel espadrilles. With these animal-embossed ones from Zara, you’re basically getting two trends for the price of one.
Wide-leg pants with extra-long hemlines are on the rise in 2019. If you’re still contemplating how to wear them, take a page from Lopez’s book and pair them with platform heels to really elongate your legs.
Leave it to Lopez to make a compelling case for adding a plaid pencil skirt to your wardrobe. A waist-accentuating detail like an oversize belt keeps the timeless basic from feeling, well, basic.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from style-stalking Amal Clooney, it’s that a black midi dress deserves a spot in every work wardrobe. We’re partial to this button-front take on the classic LBD.
Clooney recently stepped out in clear vinyl heels, which we’re taking as confirmation that the naked shoe trend is still going strong.
A true basic, a high-collar knit top looks polished and professional even when paired with an edgy leather skirt, as Clooney demonstrates here.
Hailey Bieber is no stranger to highlighter hues. Take a cue from the model, and dial the wattage all the way up with a monochrome neon ensemble, starting with an oversize shirt in glow-stick green.
PSA: Cuffed denim is one of the biggest jean trends of 2019. Make like Bieber and opt for a pair of ripped jeans for an even more laid-back look.
We’re calling it: Cat-eye frames are the sunglass trend that’s coming for your Instagram this summer. This square take on the silhouette is a favorite of Bieber’s, and it feels fresh for 2019.
Bieber was spotted sporting one of fall 2019’s hottest shoe trends—slouchy boots—sans pants, aka the perfect outfit to wear during that awkward period between spring and summer.

Next up, Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite fashion trends are sitting at Zara.

How Much You Should Really Be Spending on Clothing Every Month

We can confidently say that we spend a substantial amount of our hard-earned paycheck on clothes, but what exactly should our clothing budget be? To be quite frank, we had no idea, which is why we were excited to research this story. And just in case you’re in the dark about your spending habits as well, we thought we’d bring the matter to light with a super-simple equation.

To get to the bottom of it, we looked to award-winning financial planner Pete Dunn. Based on his expertise, we calculated what your clothing budget should be per month based on your salary. And because we still fully condone adding a few pieces to your wardrobe each month, we included a few on-budget pieces that we recommend for each of the salaries listed below. Keep scrolling to get ready for your reality check.

According to Dunn, you should spend 5% of your monthly income on clothing. To find the exact dollar amount you should be spending per month, multiply your take-home pay by 0.05. For example, if your monthly take-home pay is $3000, you should spend around $150 per month on clothing. While everyone has a unique financial position and you likely know your own situation best, we find that the 5% guide is helpful for reeling in those oh-so-tempting shopping sprees. Read on to see the types of purchases that are appropriate for different income brackets.

Hopefully, this guide has helped you figure out how much you should be spending on clothes per month. But like we’ve said before, you know your financial situation best.
