Ghana’s digital terrestrial sports channel GTV Sports➕ is all set to bring LIVE telecast of Wednesday’s blockbuster clash between giants Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold to viewers across the country and beyond amid unscrupulous claims from unreliable sources.

Anti-NC propagandist media outlets are fueling fake media reports claiming fans would be denied the Ashanti region derby due to a so-called payment issues.

However, Ghana Sports Online’s reputable sources in Kumasi have confirmed GTV crew members were at the match venue to lay the grounds and tested equipments in preparation for the live telecast.

Producers, cameramen and TV commentators who covered the Aduana Stars vs AshantiGold game did not travel back to Accra to afford them time and readiness to bring quality TV coverage to viewers across the country.

“Our crew were not even allowed to travel back to Accra but rather made to remain in Kumasi for this crucial game. There will be live telecast of the game so our viewers should disregard the fake news making circulation,” a GTV top official told Ghana Sports Online.

It appears a string of anti-NC media houses have ganged up against the state broadcaster, brewing confusion between the organisers of the Special competition and Ghana Television while sowing seeds of deceit to followers of the local game.

Last week a major online portal in Ghana was reduced to ridicule and mockery after indulging in such fabrication, claiming Aduana Stars’ goalless drawn tie with AshantiGold was not going to be live. The game was screened live to viewers.

Kotoko and AshantiGold clashes have always courted controversy with the most recent clash ending in a pulsating 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after extratime but no penalty shootouts.

Kotoko coach Charles Akonnor is a former trainer of the Miners and supervised the acquisition of some of the top stars of the Obuasi-based side.

Ghana international striker Caleb Ekuban netted and assisted a goal for Trabzonspor in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening at the Generali Arena.

The 25-year-old pulled one back for the Turkish Super Lig side with a fine strike in the 84th minute after Czech Republican Sparta had taken a 2-0 lead.

The 2019 AFCON Ghana forward unleashed a first-time shot from inside the box and beat the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner to halve the deficit for his side.

Former Ghana U17 forward Benjamin Tetteh started upfront for Sparta Prague in the game but he was booked on the 55th minute mark and replaced 10 minutes before the end of the game.

Ekuban then assisted Norwegian Alexander Sorloth to level the scoring for the visitors.

Ekuban missed Ghana’s penalty kick at the continental showpiece that resulted in the Black Stars’s exit from the tournament.
